Sponsored walk by students
20 June 2017
Students on Health, Social and Child Studies level 6 recently raised the fantastic sum of £1925.35 for SEIMH by doing a sponsored walk in the Harris hills. They walked from Urgha to Rhenigidale, through to Marruig and along the postman’s track to Urgha - no mean feat although probably some sore feet!
SEIMH is a local support group formed in April 2016, which aims to support mothers who have gone through loss at any stage of their pregnancy or in the neonatal period. They meet at Ospadal Nan Eilean on the 1st Tuesday evening of each month
The money raised will go towards the training of facilitators to enable more groups to be set up throughout the Islands and to extend support to fathers and extended family members.
Some of the money will also go towards a family fun day and butterfly release on August 19 to raise awareness of the group.
They had an amazing day out and it was a great way to end what has been a very positive year.
